In this interdisciplinary exhibition we enter into two scenes in a state of destabilisation, to explore grounding and detachment, the changing landscape, the relationship between the built environment and the terrain, lost histories and the sense of home.
Having met by chance and recognizing an immediate kinship between the practices, this exhibition serves as an opportunity to see the respective works from new perspectives.
house_Flow is a collaborative visual research project initiated by Tonia Carless investigating the widespread practice and phenomena of moving houses in Sweden. Through documenting 400+ house moves made by one house mover, Magnus Mårtensson, the project explores spatial, material and political implications of buildings in motion - and proposes structural house-moving as an architectural practice of de-growth rethinking architecture through circular economies, changing landscapes and the possibility that buildings have the latent energy and capacity to move.
Peter Stridsberg is a visual artist based in Umeå, Sweden with a Master’s degree from the Umeå Academy of Fine Arts in 2019. In recent years Stridsberg has worked with photographic stagings and installations that examine the relation and boundaries between home and landscape, fiction and reality, illusion and presence, with an interest in how scenography, as a method, can create temporary spaces, spaces that reflect a meeting between the private and the public.
